As you've no doubt heard by now – and if you haven't, where have you been? – we're giving away 50 GB to anyone who uses Box from an iOS device. The only question now is: What will you do with your free space in the cloud? To help you out, we'll post 7 quick tips every Friday that'll help you take advantage of everything Box has to offer. Let's get started!
Tip 1: Use Google Spreadsheets in Box to plan your wedding
Getting hitched soon? Google Spreadsheets are a great way to organize and edit tons of information without leaving Box, making it easy for you to sort venues, caterers and really, anything else you need for your big day. One of our resident PR managers is in the midst of planning her wedding and has this to say: "Thanks to Box, I have been able to easily access and share files with all my wedding vendors. From the flowers, to the venue and even tracking my budget – Box for the iPhone has made planning my wedding simple so I can focus on the fun."
Just click on "New Google Spreadsheet" in your account to get started.
Tip 2: Upload and share birthday photos
Need a quick way to share photo memories with far-away relatives or friends? Just snap a picture with your iPhone and send it to the cloud in seconds with our iOS app. Something else cool: You can even send your photos to a specific folder on Box by enabling email uploads.
Tip 3: Plan a group outing, like a coworker offsite or family vacation
Sending collaboration links to a folder on Box makes it quick and painless to get feedback. Once you upload pictures and other documents about where you want to go (or what you want to do), your coworkers will be able to provide their input in the comments, or by uploading their own ideas in the folder.
Tip 4: Never worry about PowerPoint software again
Still presenting the old-fashioned way? Instead of downloading presentations and running them from your desktop, simply keep them in Box and view them in preview mode. As long as you have an internet connection, you'll be able to dazzle your colleagues with a presentation that doesn't require any software to run – just the cloud.
Tip 5: Share recipes with friends
Don't keep your culinary secrets to yourself! If you're an avid baker or chef, share your masterpieces with the world by typing up your recipes in a WebDoc and enabling a shared link. Share it via email or on your social networks right from Box.
Tip 6: Ditch attachments – send your colleagues links instead
Unless you're feeling particularly retro, using attachments should be a big no-no. They're annoying, restricting and inconvenient, so say goodbye to them forever by sending out share links instead. Your coworkers will thank you.
Tip 7: Upload your past essays or projects for reference
Never lose old projects even gain – send them to the cloud for safekeeping so you can refer back to them in the future.
