Box.net Secures $15M Series C Funding, Promises Users Cloud Content Awesomeness

2010 has gotten off to a great start. We've unveiled our killer Box App for iPad, launched integrations with Google Apps and SAP StreamWork, and rolled out a content viewing feature we consider core to the Box platform. We've seen the number of Box users surpass 4 million, driven by increased adoption of our cloud content management solution across larger enterprises such as Nokia Siemens Networks, Volvo and the Oprah Winfrey Network.

This is just the beginning: today, we're excited to share that we've secured $15 million in Series C financing lead by Scale Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson and U.S. Venture Partners. This is pretty major validation for Box, especially considering that we were bootstrapping it for the company's first three years (as you can see from this picture of Box's early days).

So what are we planning to do with this round of funding? We're going to invest it in growing our engineering team and building the best content management and collaboration platform in the market. We're going to continue to integrate Box with best of breed business applications and enhance our mobile platform, so that your content is accessible across services and devices. And we'll keep rethinking the traditional approach to business software, removing the barriers to productivity and focusing on usability. Watch out, SharePoint.

We wouldn't have made it this far without our awesome customers, so thank you. And get excited...great things are on the horizon.
