Video Viewing Now on Box

One of my favorite things about Box is being able to preview my content right in my browser – it saves me a ton of time when I’m looking for the right file, or even when I want to look at a presentation without downloading anything. You can already preview more than 35 different file types on Box, and our goal is to make that number as big as possible.

That’s why I’m excited to introduce a major addition to our previewing feature –enterprise customers can now view videos right in their account. Just upload any avi, mov, mp4, mpg, mpeg, wmv, qt, ra, or ram file to Box and we’ll convert for seamless playback through the Box web application.

Check out the video below to see it in action:

Once you’ve uploaded a video file, collaborators and external viewers can view it once you provide them with the share URL, and you can even embed a video on your website or blog. You can view any supported file up to 2GB.

In order to deliver this feature, we’ve been working closely with some of our customers – both large and small, and especially in the media space – for the past several months. They’ve shared marketing materials, rough-cut commercials, and even entire TV episodes through Box. It helped them cut down on the complexity, hassle and security concerns of sending large files around for review, and file recipients don’t need to spend time downloading, converting or installing software.

The video player is available now for Box Enterprise customers, so just give us a call and we’ll set it up for your account.
