Stewart Butterfield is the co-founder and C.E.O. of Slack, the online communication platform that is used by such companies as BuzzFeed, Stripe, Airbnb, Adobe, and PayPal. Prior to starting Slack, Butterfield co-founded and led Flickr, the online photography service, which was sold to Yahoo! in 2005. When he left the company, in 2008, Flickr was one of the largest Web sites in the world, with more than 50 million users and billions of photos.
